The RPM cam by Edelbrock is not a rough idle cam, slightly rougher than stock but not lopey. Your engine is fine and you'll like the cam I think. Bigger is not always better, heavy loping may be fine for flat out track racing but not too great for street....try it out for awhile and I think you'll be happy. It makes good power.
