I have a '68 Shelby GT 500 with a 428 PI that is stock. For no apparent reason, it broke off about 1/2 of the oil dipstick. I tried another I had from a 428 CJ and it was also consumed. Is the problem one of the dipstick angle into the oil pan, or has something gotten loose in that area and broken it off. There is no unusual noise or rattle in the bottom end of the engine. I have tried unsucessfully to "fish" the broken dipstick out through the drain plug hole. Where can I buy some 428 dipsticks?
