Anytime I can put a plug in for good old C6OZ-B camshaft, I do. Like kevin says, it's a great cam from Ford. I've tried quite a few hydraulic grinds and have been disappointed everytime. There is one exception, the hydraulic grind offered currently through Ford's High Performance parts line worked as well as the C6OZ-B.

As kevin says, decent valve springs and high quality hydraulic lifters are all you need with the C6OZ-B which was the stock cam in 390GT, '67 & later 428 PI, and the mighty Cobra Jet 428s, both stanard and Super CJ.

I'm currently running the C6-B cam in a '65 390 in my '68 F 100. It hauls like a pick up should with C-6 and 3.50 traction lock, Hedman Headers. The F100 weighs in at just over 4,100 which may be close to your '66.
