I have a 391 block that passed the "drill" test but failed a sonic check. Core shift often will not be reflected in a drill test. Core shift is the real silent enemy. It may be best to set your sights on a 410-style build-up (390 block, 428 crank), and if you can bore your block .06 over from 4.05 for a 422, consider yourself lucky.
I suppose when the Scat cranks come out, we won't have to worry so much about 4.13" bore blocks for getting cubes. |
