Thanks to all for the reponses. I unbolted the motor mounts on both sides, pulled the starter and raised the motor up 'til the bellhousing hit the tranny tunnel and couldn't get enough clearance to drop the passenger side manifold. It would hit up against the shock tower and also wouldn't clear the "skirt " that sticks out where the starter mounts. Thinking about it, pulling the engine may be the way to go, at least partially. What a PAIN! Anyway, I tried the exhaust manifold with one gasket, no gasket and stacking two gaskets and it still leaks pretty bad. So I guess it may be off to the shop to see if it's the manifold or the head that is not lining up. Thanks again for the replies! |
