Stroker FE, I'm sure that your '66 Galaxie XL is worth more than a '67 Galaxie 500. Assessed value and what cars sell for are two different things. The 60's Galaxies are some of the best cars Ford ever produced. However, they are one of many cars that people have sunk big bucks into only to find they cannot recover anywhere near their investment if they need to sell. Lots of people enjoy looking at Galaxies but spending a huge amount of money to own one is a different story. Galaxies are also heavy and very few people are willing to do what it takes to make them run good. It takes a gear such as a 4.11 or more to bring them to life. But as you say, you pay the price if you need to go out on the highway.
Your XL sounds like a great piece that has probably surprised a few unsuspecting Mustang owners. What do your dragstrip timeslips show for your best ET and MPH? |
