If you want performance from your 390 -search this site. Shoe, Royce and others have repeatedly listed tried and true performance combos.

The person who purchased my 63 Galaxie took an aggressive 390 out and replaced it with a more aggressive 390. After toasting the cruisomatic and installing a C6 he went on to get in the quarter finals in Copenhagen Open - an illegal street competition where you bring what you got and hope it is enough. Much to the annoyance of a Corvette owner the "boat" ate his much lighter modfied Corvette on its way to the quarter finals.
