You may have a good C6ME or C6ME-A. Either may be a great block. Since you plan a 390 build up your 'bird block should be more than adequate.
Many '66, '67 428 blocks were cast with C6ME but there are a lot of variances in these castings. I have a C6ME cast in January '67 that is actually a 391 FT block. It does have the very difficult to see/read 428 cast that can be seen through an coolant expansion hole.
But the answer to your question regarding the qaulity of your '66 block: have it fully magnafluxed and even sonic tested for cylinder wall thickness. These types of checks aren't that expensive and it's good to know whatcha have there. |
