you either misread it or it is so badly cast it can not be read properly. the date code will be number letter number. like 7B27 which would be feb 27 1967. since the first number looks to be a 7 and since you have drilled C8 heads and that intake, i will hazard a guess that you have a 68 S code engine in your 69. i would have to look at it to be sure 100% sure but all indications make me lean that way. it is really not too unusual to have a similar engine in a performance oriented car. many times the original was damaged or worn and a replacement was secured from an auto dismantler or local source. many times the replacement will be close enough, like what you have. it fits and works but is wrong for a show car. hawkrod
