in a mustang lighter car thear is not much diferance but in a heavy weight or truck that you might tow with the split lift 265 has more balls for pulling hills trailers ect and with a stock converter works better then the 270 the 270 seams to start making balls at 2000 rpm,s i,v used them both i feal the 265 comes of idel better with a stock converter and hi gears then the 270 my 2 cents.......
