Chad, I would go a different route,I see a pretty hefty price tag associated with that parts list ,for that money a 390 with aluminum heads sounds cool, but the Galaxie is a BIG car, you are already in 428 price range even if you cant find CJ heads .....(.you can, just try.)...find a 66 428 with R heads put the big valves in and some bowl work, CJ intakes are $100 all day long and a good ignition and exhaust set-up = killer combo. The key is to know how to flush out the parts. Dont go Cobra Jet shopping just looking for an engine or parts, look for a used T-Bird or so and for $1500 and the extra effort score everything you need whats that the price of Edelbrock heads +shipping? A fresh .030 over 428 warmed up as described will spank the 390 and takes its lunch money, and as Travis suggested put the remaining cash into the rest of the car.
