RE: teflon valve seals |

I never had much luck with teflon seals on a street car which needed positive valve seals from using dual type valve springs. They let too much oil get through under high vacuum (cruise/idle). I would always get oil on the spark plug threads. I would use viton on a street/strip car. I recently switched to viton from teflon and no longer get excess oil on the spark plugs. I don't even use the drip trays anymore. Lazer cams talks about this: http://www.lazercams.com/CamTables.html They have different sizes for different valves and valve guides. I bought the ones that fit my heads from Manley. Teflon is ok for drag race only engines though. |
