RE: Holley or Edelbrock ? |

It's a tough choice really. I've had good luck with Holleys when they're new or remanufactured by Joe Bunetic. I also had good performance from a stock CJ 735 with just a kit.
But I have to say that the Edelbrocks are very nice to work on and easy to fine tune using their provided booklet. If you get stuck or have a problem their tech line people are excellent to work with too.
I don't think E'brock makes a 650 but they do offer a 600 and then a 750 and then their newest 800. I think I'd stay with the 600 as giacomo recommends.
I ran a 750 manual choke on a CJ with great success. A very nice carb that I tuned myself by changing primary jets, metering rods and step up springs. It had to have been easy because I was able to do it without any problem. I did have a bog-stumble under hard acceleration from the line but a call to Edelbrock's tech was all it took. I did have to buy a Edelbrock carb tuning kit but it wasn't very expensive.
I doubt that we've helped you but good luck. That's the fun & joy of hot rodding. |
