John if you are referring to W-code as in 427-4V that di not exist in 1964.Q was the engine code for 427-4V in 64 and W was last used in 1962 for the 292.W later made a reappearance in 1966 as the code for 427-4V when Q was used for the 428-4V.So if the car you are looking at is supposed to be a 427-4V car then the 5th digit of the VIN should be a Q.Make sure you use the VIN that is stamped into the lip of the cowl on the pass side of the engine compartment,also while the hood is up look at the front brake line going to the pass side Hi perf cars should go forward and pass over in between the engine and radiator on the crossmember there.Standard cars it will pass over on the crossmember that runs right under the engine.
