Fan and clutch

This may be a stupid question, but I was looking at my fan and fan clutch last night to make sure I have the correct fan for my '67 Mustang w/390 and I think I may have figured out part of my cooling problem (I may have had it mounted backwards). The fan (C6oe-f) has "front" stamped on one side. Does this mean it is supposed to face the front of the car or is it supposed to face the front of the engine?
