sounds like the "hatchet" spacer from the 428 SCJ. This weight is needed to balance the extra weight of the Lemans rods. If you have it in your 'stang and it runs strong with no obvious vibrations, then don't take it apart, it is ok. If it was not right, I think you'd have a very obvious vibration that would have preventing you from ever knowing that it runs strong.

What did you use for the top end, heads and headers. Did you strengthen the shock towers with something like what Ford put in the 68 CJ cars? You may want to consider this before you enjoy the front end right out from under it. There used to be a guy in Salt Lake that sold an after market version of that support.
