Sure it's possible. Parts in the front suspension are different. Not the least of which is five lug wheels for the V8 instead of the four lug used for the 6. The rear diff is larger in the V8 too. The V8's used an 8" except for the hi-po which used a 9". Of course you wouldn't have to switch all those parts but you would lose some durability. The trans woud be different too.
