428 CJ. How to identify.
By Brandon - 04/15/2006 12:48:00 AM; IP 208.54.14.65
I am in the process of purchasing a 70 Mach I with a 428 CJ. How can I be sure that it is a true 428 CJ externally? From what I have read the 390 and 428 are pretty similar. Will the 390 and 428 take the same heads and intake? If not, could I get the casting numbers from them and determine if it is a 428? If you can't tell the difference between the 390 and 428 parts how else can I tell? I read about the freezer plug may have a 352 in it, but that is any FE big block engine I think. Any info would be greatly aprreciated.
