Hey Don, I just had my 62 Galaxie finally rebuilt after owning it 16 years. The whole time I've owned it, until now, it did the same thing. My road draft tube even got a little clogged and it started coming out the oil breather and dipstick tube. So here's what I did.
I found me some old chrome valve covers for it. They had the oilfiller hole on oneside and the pcv hole on the other. I got a chrome open style air filter. It came with a hose fitting that can be installed on the bottom of the lower air filter plate. Which I installed. I then went to the parts store, got a hose and hose fitting for the valve cover. Ran the hose from the valve cover to the bottom side of the air filter. That did it. Although like the other fellow said, it did idle rougher. So like him, I just idled it up a little.
When I rebuilt my engine, a 352, I went back entirely stock. Blue valve covers, original air cleaner etc. And no it doesn't smoke anymore, YIPPEE!
I do still have the air cleaner if you need one. It has a reproduction "352 C.I.D." sticker on it.It looks fairly nice.Unfortunatly I no longer have my valve covers. I'm in N.C. also so it wouldn't take long to get it if you need it.
Good Luck!
Rod
