external bolt paterns are the same for the 427/428
other than the longer stroke and narrower bore the 428
is externally balanced while the 427 and the rest of the fe family is internally balanced.

the walls are thinner on the 428 and can be bored only an additional .030 befor sonic testing must be performed.

a 427 with a 428 crank = a 454 fe
