Believe it or not I remembered without the aid of a controlled substance as some others on this forum would have you believe..LOL When someone posted info and comments on the MEL engine it got me thinkin' and reflecting. I even dug out my copy of "Ford Performance Handbook" by Ray Brock/Hot Rod mag. [1962] It has some info.on MEL engines. I remember the 383/430 was used in hi perf. boats of the era and it did run with or better than some of the better known engines of the day. Chrysler was big as was Cadillac, Olds, Pontiac and nail head Buicks. A good friend had an old wood flatbottom V-drive with a 383 MEL that ran pretty good when the hull wasn't falling apart. Do you still live in the Bay Area? |
