Only thing I can add is that the 410 pistons are unique. I did learn from this site that some mid 70's 390s had 410 pistons in them to reduce the compression. If you do have a 410 hopefully you got the flywheel/flexplate with it. I've got a 410 that I've had for over 30 years. This engine have been in a car and two different trucks and still a standard bore. Done the timing chain and heads once, replaced the dist. and rebuilt the carb. three times. Still pulls hard and uses little oil. 410 Merc. are kind of rare, they were only made two years 66 and 67 and I think all were Maruder 4V's, had the neat 427 style valve covers with the lighting bolts, and the shortie cast iron headers. Mine came out of a 66 parklane. |
