I found out something else, the 65 starter has a finer pitch gear so when it hit the flywheel it smacked the top of the teeth instead of meshing properly, so I ordered a 65 flexplate to match. Same diameter but with a pitch that matches, more available and cheaper ,too. The old flexplate had markings on it like it came out of a wrecking yard so who knows how old it is, but it is really chewed up. Starter looks great. Since it is grandma's car we have to drive her around till I get it fixed - hopefully soon!
