help identifying a 428

Hi,
I bought an engine and was told it was a 390GT from a '68 Cougar. I was just checking and found the code 'C7ME-A' on the block which is the code for a 428. (?) Besides checking the bore (390 bore is 4.05" and 428 is 4.13") how can I figure out what I really have?
