If I recall what Ron Miller (FPP) mentioned, 427 blocks with the square cast cylinders can handle thicknesses as low as .090" and be fine. You probably don't wanna use the block for running a supecharger with 95% nitro or anything like that, but as a basic race warrior, .090" is apparently sufficient.
