I did start to set the timing at 10 degrees, but got a lot of detonation due to the high compression and low octane available at the pumps. I now have it set at about 17 degrees, give or take, and still get some detonation, but not as bad. (It appears as though my original idea of putting in a 4 speed would be the best solution, but not practical and would ruin the originality of my baby.) I don't know just how much more I can advance it before I can't get the car started..... It's just now beginning to start a little slow.
