Soooo, last month I was working on another spec sheet for the Obsolete Engines Textbook . And I came across a really cool photo of something that was unusual, even when new. In fact, I'm willing to bet its something most of you have never seen in real life. And maybe not in print, either.

Here's a small version of the photo. Anyone know this engine? Yes, its an FE....and its a 427, for that matter. But what's with that goofy oil pan? And I might add that several other famously odd features are clearly visible, here.

How about you folks try to figure it out, before I post the answer? When you're ready for a more detailed view, click this image for a closeup.....better be prepared for a long-ish download, 'though. I'll be back tomorrow to see who's our big winner.  ;-)
