I t depends on what year flywheel and belll housing combination is being used. The flywheels/flexplates from '64 and back use a specific tooth count with a starter that has a long bendix drive and it engages with the back of the flywheel. From '65 and up, the bendix is short and it engages from the front and theres a different tooth count from that year up too. So...if you're running a 390 with a '65 and up flywheel/flexplate, you should encounter no problems when you install the 428. Of course you know that the flywheel/flexplate on your 428 is balanced externally with the 428 crank...right? |
