Yes, with Lakewood you can put small block toploader behind FE by shortening pilot bearing stub on trans. Can be done as simply as taping off spline and retainer and then using cutoff tool carefully to shorten to same length as BB trans pilot surface. Conversely, you can use a BB toploader in small block by using longer pilot bushing that is available for just that purpose. Early-mid sixties T-10 trans also will fit being Lakewood has both bolt patterns on front (wide & narrow trans front..). Not very strong trans though and will not stand up to lot of abuse..
