I've found trucking costs to be higher than that. |

If you don't have access to someone with a freight contract with a trucking company, I found trucking firms typically charge $150-$200 to ship a bare block 50 miles. Cross country brings it closer to $400.00 in the quotes I've gotten. If you know someone with a freight contract who is willing to underwrite the shipping, these contracts will cut the cost from 30% to 70% (depending on how big the contract is) - this brings the cross-country costs closer to $150-$250.
The only cheap way for a regular dude to ship a 250 pound crate is if you can have the crate delivered free to a forwardair.com terminal, and you have a forwardair.com terminal within driving range of your house. This is the only fast, cheap way I'm aware of for shipping an FE bare block.
