I have a 66 tbird with a build date of 31E, master cyl with 1" bore and #2225032 on bottom. Do I use a repair kit for a 67. Parts houses list a 7/8" and 15/16" kits only. |

Your (From 4/1/66) master cylinder Has a 1 inch bore and is very rare. Ford doesn't even list a repair kit for this C6SZ-2140-B Master cylinder. A 67 should be a dual cylinder. Kit would be different. |

It may have some of the same parts, but if it was the same FORD would just list that kit. |

Does anybody have a recommendation on a fuel pump for a 69 428CJ? My latest pump was a Carter CRT-M6905, 120GPH with 5.5 to 6.5 max psi. The Carter lasted about 2 years but the car never seemed to run like it had in the past. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

Gents, I have a 390 that I'm rebuilding. I'll be running a Crane hydraulic roller cam and lifters. I'm also installing a set of Edelbrock aluminum heads, RPM Performer intake and will be using a set of factory style adjustable rockers with ARP rocker studs. The question is in regards to the heads. What do I need to do to address oil build up under the valve covers? I understand that there needs to be some drilling? I also need an education on oil restrictors. What exactly does this mean? Heck, I'm just plain green. I also need some advise on the rocker stands. Will I need additional end supports and if so, what are some options? Those shock towers make things miserable so I want it right the first time. Thanks, John C. |

I was wondering if anybody knows anything about the heads that are on my 390 engine. I have a 67 mustang fastback. the heads say ford on the side by the spark plug hole and "203" on it as well. can anybody give me info on these heads!?! thank You clint |

I was recently told that Ford can mail you an official report based on your car's VIN. I searched their website, but found no trace of this report. Does anyone know if these reports exist, and if so, how can I get one? |

I don't know whether you can see this in the pics. The heads have C6ME-A At least it looks like an "A". The date code on the heads says 6B14 on both of them. The block seems to have a dagte code of 6826 and C6ME cast into the block. The back of the block says 66-427. No screw in freeze plugs either. :( |

the 427 on the back of the block means not much thay just used the 427 casting plate on that run of blocks like the 352 on alot of blocks in the frount i like the one pice spring retainers on the heads ......... |

I would like some feedback on a cam selection. The details consist of: 428 w/390 heads w/adj. rockers 4 spd. w/3.50 gears stock manifold w/2.5" dual exhaust 9.5.1 comp. stock intake and 750 Edelbrock carb.
1968 Mustang street driven, not interested in lumby idle. Perhaps a step or two above stock.
Presently considering a Comp cam such as the XE274H or the 265DEH |

270h comp cam and springs and one pice spring retainers and molly pushrods, and i,d use some pistons to bump the compress up to 10.5 |

Have an f308 edelbrock alum tripower intake. I came with 2 barrel carbs that I can't id. There were no tags on them. the body of the carb says "ford" and the casing numbers are EBU and ecg6. Not sure what kind of carbs, dates, kits, etc.
Not sure if all there, none of the three has a external choke setting, only the middle one has a top butterfly plate--others are open--is this normal? Am I missing parts? |

| Electrical Problem -- Charlie, 08/31/2005
I have a 1969 Mach 1 CJ RCode. Every once in a while i go to turn the key and no power anywhere. Come back in a few hours or a day, no problem. Not sure how to diagnos this? Any good sites that provide a step by step process for idiots? Thanks, Charlie PS this is keeping me from driving my car for fear it wont start when i want to come home, a real pain. |

When this does happen, no power anywhere in the car, headloghts, door lights, batt/oil lights, dash, etc... It has only happened 2 times since I bought it 3 weeks ago. The last time it fixed itself right when I was troubleshooting (I use that word loosely since I have no clue where to start). I will try to jump solenoid the next time. The previous owner did mention having some trouble with the fuse box. I moved wires and tapped the fusebox, no flickering. I purchased a 12V tester and continuity tester. |

When this happened on my '67 I started troubleshooting and found that the headlight wire harness (the main underhood harness) was cut and spliced poorly near the radiator support under the battery tray. I cleaned up the splices, soldered them and shrink wrapped them and it's been 4 years withour another problem. Good Luck on yours. |

I bet it is your neutral safety switch. Give it a good slam into park, or try neutral the next time it acts up. Sometimes you can jiggle the shifter while turning the key and get it to catch too if the switch is out of adjustment or bad. |

OOps, Obviously not the N/S switch if all power is out. Gotta hate intermittent electrical problems. I found a bad ground cable by using booster cables to link the" - " terminal to a good ground on the block. If ground is good, then yeah, track you power from your battery to the fusebox. Bet you got a corroded wiring harness somewhere. |

You have a dirty, loose or corroded connection at your battery or battery cables. It is about the single most common thing to go wrong with any car. If you can't fix it you should sell all your cars and hire a cab.

That happens to mine occasionally - try jiggling the cables connected to the solenoid (i mean really moving them) and attempt to start it again. sometimes it works right away, and other times it doesn't. |

Royce.....do you ahe some unpleasant bad history with "Charlie" or something? Some people don't know much about thier vehicles, but those of us who do are wise to have a little patience. Anyway, it does sound like a bad battery connection, other than usually light current loads get through which allows dash lights, etc to function. Hope he posts what he found. |
