unfortunately the info is wrong -- Hawkrod, 01/25/2005
The numbers on sheetmetal do not include the year. The numbers are day and month and the D2 is plant and shift. The long baffle was a 67 and older feature. It was likely replaced as it was common back then due to the low ground clearance and bad roads. Hawkrod

 RE: Oil Pan ?? -- Jack W, 01/25/2005
Hello Geoff,
I found the stamping in the center of the shallow end of the pan(outside).I think the engine was dropped or something a long time ago & this pan was "handy" & fit. When they put it on they were not aware of steering clearance.Luckily they did but the windage tray back on.....LOL

 RE: Oil Pan ?? -- Jack W, 01/25/2005
Yep that's the fin.Running at about a 30 to 40 Degree diagonal.Mine was not pushed over. They prolly thought it might hit the crank & just pushed it over?I see Milodon has an OEM replacement with baffles for a about a big buck. Not to bad....
Did yours have the Tray?

I spent the money on them becuase they are 100 cheaper than FPAs. After 10 miles they are almost totally destroyed because they hang down too damn far! Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and get the FPAs. I will sell you mine for 1/2 cost + will have them fixed. What a bargain.

Hello brand new to the board.

Here is my story.

I have a 64 1/2 mustang convertiable that was in an accident 4+ years ago. It has been sitting in my parants barn since the wreck under a cover. I just recently reviced the insurance $$ to fix it.

It was deemed totaled by the insurance company hit hard in the right front qtr pannel. The car was my grandma's she was the 2ed owner the car was restored in the late 90s.

My question is what is the best way to figure out if I should get it fixed with the $ or should I sell it/part it out, And use the insurance $ to buy a diffrent car.

Thanks Othello.

RE: 428 cj heads vs. medium riser -- gregb, 01/18/2005
The 428 should have larger valves than the standard 390 stuff. It will have smaller valves than a medium riser head. Standard 390 valves are 2.04/1.55 IIRC, 428CJ sizes are 2.09/1.66, and the 427 stuff should be 2.19/1.72 or something like that. It would depend on the year of 390 head you are talking about, but the 428 heads do have a larger chamber than the more common 390 heads. The 428 ports are larger than most of the 390 stuff.
