 I was wondering the same thing.. -- T1M, 10/17/2000
I bought a can labeled "old ford blue" that was next to a can of darker blue labled simply "ford blue" so I opted for the former kind. I compared my air filter cover, with the old paint on it, to the the intake manifold, that I just recently had cleaned at a machine shop and painted myself, and there is a bit of a difference. But it's hard to say, maybe it'll darken and look just like it's supposed to after awhile.

Found a picture of the motor from when I dragged the car out of its barn. Acounting for 33 years of grime, oil and dirt the light blue shade may actaully be quite close. Gee... Maybe I should wipe my freshly painted motor down with a mixture of drain oil and old coolant before I fire it up!!! just kidding. ( would like to see the espression on the face of my extremely Uh, retentive restoration buddy though.) All kidding aside it would be nice if the forum had a page devoted the the various colors and shades of paint as required to correctly detail the different years and models of engines. Put it in the resource section. Just an idea but many forum users might find it usefull.

RE: compression ratio -- KarlJay, 10/19/2000
The head gasket is probably about 10cc and the valve releifs are about 5.5. you'll probably end up with 10:1 or 10.5:1 Just about the limit of prem gas.

 Cam Research/MPG Head Service--OPINION -- Mark Piechowski, 10/14/2000

I was wondering if anyone here has had a problem with service from Cam Research/MPG Head Service? I am not writing this post to bash this company, but I have had my intelligence insulted and haven't been treated the way a customer should be, too many times. I have purchased parts from and talked with Scott Main numorus times, and many times I have found that he doesn't give me strait answers or good advise and a couple times just blatantly lied to me. Best Tech Line in the business?--I think NOT! He has also sent me bottom line parts when I payed for quality ones.
I just feel I have been taken advantage of. I have spent over a few thousand dollars with this company and referred several people who have made purchases also. I just don't understand why he wouldn't hold true to his word. I think he has some great ideas and products, but I have to take my business elsewhere.
Please let me know your opinion of Cam Research/MPG Head Service. I sure hope the experience I had isn't farmiliar to anyone else.
Mark Piechowski
