Try tci transmissions they have c-4 trannys that will get you what you want from your motor and set up. as for headers go with shorty headers but if you are on the gas full throttle every day or just weekends use long tubes. and go with sanderson headers. if they dont have your set up they will custom make them for yous as long as you measure and give them the right specs.

RE: windsor piston cooling with oil -- tomj, 10/02/2004
This is an old trick that's been around forever in applications like diesels. Racers have gotten so good at taking the windage driven oil out of the crankcase that they need to do this to return the cooling effect. Metered orifices and LOTS of pump volume/oil capacity necessary. Oil control by scraper ring is complicated by this manuver. Not a street mod and definitely needs to be part of a coordinated combination.

Hello everyone I'm pondering on a few parts to choose from. I want a fun street sleeper that pulls hard through the gears up to 5500-5800 rpm, not a truck for towing.

My build up goes like this......... 1965 F-100 2WD @ around 4,500 lbs, factory truck 4-speed with that useless granny low, will only use 2-3-4 gears. Rear end gear will be the orginal 3.50 or could swap out for 3.70's haven't decided yet.

The motor is a 390 FE bored .060 over to 401cid, Edelbrock heads and 9.75-10:1 CR 750cfm carb with Performer RPM intake.
Headers and 2 1/2" exhaust.

This is where I'm having a hard time choosing the rest of my parts, the cam choices are Comp Cams 270 Mag, 280 Mag, & 274 Extreme Energy cams, I want to stay with factory style adjustable rockers or even cheaper, the non-adjustable.

And after the cam choice will come the gear selection of 3.50's or 3.70's.

Thanks for any help!

i,d run the 265 comp cam or the 270 in a pickup, and back of the carb in the 650 range and use the stock rockers non adjustabel tipe, and make shure my valve springs mach cam,and use a set of pushrods beter than stock, the rear end i,d use the 350,s and spend my money on a locker......my 2 cents.....
